Best Acne Skin Treatments: The Acne Treatment Diet

Most doctors today believe that acne is caused by hormonal imbalances. This is why it generally affects young adults and teenagers. Years ago, chocolate and fried foods were named as culprits when it came to acne. Today, however, most doctors do not attribute acne to any dietary factor.

Vitamin A Foods

Foods that are high in Vitamin A, such as carrots, will help the skin stay clear and acne-free. Vitamin A can also be taken as a supplement when you are trying to watch your diet for acne treatment.

Vitamin B6 Foods

Any food high in Vitamin B6 such as dark green leafy vegetables will help you balance your diet and keep your skin as well as your body healthy.

Vitamin E Foods

Foods that contain Vitamin E are certain nuts and leafy green vegetables. While some nuts are high in fats (such as peanuts and Macadamia nuts) others are lower in fat (soy nuts) and can be good for your skin. Leafy green vegetables such as spinach are also high in Vitamin E.

Foods High in Simple Carbohydrates

Any foods high in simple carbohydrates are not good for your diet nor your skin. This includes foods that are high in sugar content but offer no nutritional value. High sugared foods increase your insulin and can cause you to produce more testosterone which will aggravate acne. Not only that, they also add to the pounds. Stay away from cakes, cookies and especially sodas when you are trying to find the best acne skin treatments.

Foods High in Saturated Fats

Again, these are not only no good for your skin, but they are definitely not good for your health, either. A good rule of thumb when dieting for your skin is to stay away from fast foods and fried foods which are not only high in saturated fats, but also high in trans fats. These add too much fat and very little by way of nutritional value.

You are what you eat and your skin will reflect your eating habits. While hormones are the leading cause of acne, you can control your acne breakouts and try to maintain your hormonal balance by eating the right foods when you are following a diet as one of the best acne skin treatments.
